RUMOR: Pimp to join Team Liquid’s CS:GO Team, replacing adreN

June 16, 2016 - Esports, News

While Team Liquid has a full squad of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Nick “nitr0” Cannella, Spencer “Hiko” Martin, Josh “jdm64” Marzano, and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski for the upcoming ECS Finals and ESL One Cologne 2016, the organization still faces a big problem when considering their future, because s1mple only agreed to play these two tournaments due to reported home-sickness when in America.

The organisation has teased the existence of a secret fifth player without revealing his name since the announcement about adreN being kicked from the team, to be replaced by s1mple. ESPN recently announced that their sources close to the team let it slip that the player that is being teased is SK Gaming’s Jacob “Pimp” Winneche.

Pending official announcement, this news is just a rumor; however, it does seem quite probable because, technically, SK Gaming have signed contracts with the roster of Luminosity Gaming, which should come in effect on July 1st. If that happens, Pimp and the rest of SK Gaming’s roster would be without a team to play for. As one of the best players on that team, he could attract the attention of Team Liquid, who have an open spot in their permanent lineup.

While definitely not as good as s1mple, Pimp is a very good Rifler, capable of rounding out the Liquid squad, who will have no contract soon. If this rumor pans out, I will actually be cautiously optimistic about the team’s chances on the international stage.

UPDATE: It was announced on Wednesday that Pimp is indeed joining Team Liquid. Rumor CONFIRMED.
