The last qualifier for Intel Extreme Masters Oakland is over and we have all 12 teams qualified or invited to play in the event are not clear. The tournament will take place in The Oracle Arena in Oakland, from Nov. 16 to Nov. 19 and the teams will fight for the prize pool of $300,000.
Astralis, Cloud9, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Gambit Esports, Immortals, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and SK Gaming were the nine teams to receive name invites to the event and three more spots were filled with qualifiers in Europe, North America, and East & SEA.
The event will follow the standard 12-team structure where two groups of six teams each are setup. Then, teams play each other in round robin best of 1s, meaning that each team will play once against each of their group opponents.
Then, the #1 seed from both groups will receive a spot in the tournament’s Semifinals. The #2 and #3 teams from both groups will battle it out in the single elimination best of 3 Quarterfinals with #2 seeds being matched against #3 seeds from the other group and vice versa.
The winners will advance to the Semifinals and fight in best of 3 series for the right to play in the best of 5 Finals.
The $300,000 prize pool will be split accordingly: $125,000 to the winner, $50,000 to 2nd place, $25,000 to 3rd-4th, $12,000 to 5th-6th, $5,000 to 7th-8th, $3,500 to 9th-10th, and $2,000 to 11th-12th place. Additionally, teams will receive $1,000 for each group stage victory.
