League of Legends 7.16 Patch Notes Overview

As the summer is reaching its final days, so does the League of Legends esports team prepare, shaping the metagame the World Championships will be played in. Patch 7.16 is one more step towards the state of the game in the most important League of Legends tournament of the year.

Some general champion changes as well as a balance switch up for the mid lane are being made in the patch. Riot’s vendetta against Caitlyn continues in 7.16 with a nerf to Piltover Peacemaker’s damage to targets beyond the first and the nerf to Yordle Snap Trap’s early to mid game flat damage as well as the AD ration going down to 0.6 from 0.7.

Also, Fiora will get more bonus movement speed from her Duelist’s Dance Passive, while Kayn had some of its bugs fixed. Maokai’s Sapling damage was reduced from 8% target’s maximum health at all ranks to 6/6.5/7/7.5/8%, while the brush damage was also made to scale from 12 to 16% max health damage over the 5 ranks of the ability.

Sion’s Soul Furnace will give a bit more health per small unit killed and his Unstoppable Onslaught will have its maximum damage increased to 400/800/1200 while also fixing the bug which allowed Lulu to Polymorph Sion when he was using Unstoppable Onslaught. Vi’s Excessive Force can no longer be canceled once the champion begins winding it up, while the cooldown of her Assault and Battery was reduced to 130/100/70 seconds.

Riot has fixed some ability’s interaction with wards, which allowed players to kill wards faster than usual. Aatrox’s W, Blood Thirst/Blood Price, will no longer proc against wards, same for Jax’s Grandmaster’s Might’s on-hit bonus damage. Jayce and Riven will also lose the interaction with wards inherent in their Ultimate transformation for Jayce and Passive in case of Riven.

The Mid Lane balance update changed several mid laners to bring them more into line of what Riot considers appropriate. Cassiopeia’s base mana was reduced to 334 to make it harder to crush lane by spamming Twin Fang. Her mana will grow by 63 instead of 60 to catch up a bit for the mid game. Twin Fang’s damage vs. poisoned targets was changed to 15/40/65/90/115 (+0.4 ability power) from 10/40/70/100/130 (+0.35 ability power), lowering the base damage a bit and increasing scaling.

Corki’s base AD was reduced to 55, the cooldown of Fizz’s Playful/Trickster was decreased in early levels to 16/14.5/13/11.5/10 seconds, Galio’s Hero’s Entrance cooldown was increased in early ranks to 180/150/120 seconds, while nerfing its ally damage reduction to 20/25/30%.

LeBlanc’s wave clear capabilities were nerfed a little bit as well, her Shatter Orb will do a bit less, 60%, damage to minions, down from 80%. Orianna’s base damage on Command: Dissonance was nerfed to 60/105/150/195/240 damage. Also, the buffered cast range while using Command: Attack, was reduced. To use Riot’s words, “While The Ball is moving from Q – Command: Attack, queued-up Command: Dissonance casts will fire at Q’s target location once The Ball is 275 ⇒ 75 units away from Q’s target location.” Command: Protect’s base shield was also decreased to  60/100/140/180/220. Syndra’s Dark Sphere AP ratio was reduced to 0.65 ability power, while buffing Scatter the Weak’s to 0.6 ability power. Finally, Taliyah’s mana cost for Threaded Volley was increased.

Riot has also made Ancient Coin restore less mana to stop Support’s from not having to worry about mana to such a great extent. The Cinderhulk jungle item enchantment also had its entire cost raised to 2500 gold, up from 2425.
