VandeR and FORG1VEN To Sit Out Spring Split

December 22, 2016 - Esports

In the League of of Legends World Championship 2016, only one Western team made it into the Semifinals, H2k-Gaming. During the whole tournament, its Bot Lane, Oskar “VandeR” Bogdan and Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou were pulling their own weight, outperforming other Western Bot Lanes in the tournament and showing themselves to be worthy of playing professional League of Legends. It seems, however, that the scene insiders weren’t really impressed with the two players, because it looks like they will have a rare pleasure of going on vacation, according to a tweet from VandeR’s Twitter account, @VanderLCS.

While the talented AD Carry, FORG1VEN, left H2K on November 3rd, inviting offers from teams, it seems like it’s not going to happen. It’s certainly strange, but somewhat understandable. Many League fans would agree that while FORG1VEN is one of the best AD Carries in Europe, his skill is matched by a difficult and opinionated personality, which could best be summed up by saying that it’s FORG1VEN’s way or the highway. The player has been known to be a difficult guy to get along with for a long time. Granted, he’s been getting better in recent times, even picking up playing Sivir. Still, his insistence on mainly playing Caitlyn, Lucian, and Sivir does unnecessarily limits his team’s comp flexibility, possibly outweighing his in game skill in team executive’s minds.

VandeR, on the other hand, is not known for having such problems, as well as being considered to be one of the best professional Supports in Europe. Despite that, he’s been replaced on H2K by Koread Choi “Chei” Sun-ho, the former Jin Air Green Wings Support. While the decision might have been weird on the surface due to the Korean’s difficulty in communicating with their team, it’s probably been made to avoid leaving their new AD Carry, Shin “Nuclear” Jung-hyun as the only Korean player on the team. It’s generally been a common practice in Western teams to have two Koreans in order to avoid them feeling lonely.

It’s still hard to figure out why VandeR and FORG1VEN couldn’t have stayed on H2k-Gaming. They worked well together towards the end of the 2016 LoL season. Now, they are teamless nerds, blowing in the wind, which is a waste of their potential. Hopefully, they can find teams for the Summer Split, because their potential would be severely wasted otherwise. Finally, could it be that both players decided to do a Doublelift and take a vacation on purpose, unless they received some great offer they couldn’t refuse? Unlikely. But in case it IS true, have a nice vacaycay, kappa.
