Team Dignitas Signs CS:GO Roster

When the third French Shuffle happened, there were Rumors about a possible new team that was being assembled by Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad, formerly of FaZe Clan. Well, not only do we get to finally see the team’s roster, but we also get to find out which organization the new roster is going to compete under.

Aside from jkaem, the new team will have Ricardo “fox” Pacheco, Mikail “Maikelele” Bill, Faruk “pita” Pita, and Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel. The player will compete for Team Dignitas, which is owned by people connected to the Philadelphia 76ers NBA club. To make their new Team Dignitas roster happen, the team’s management had to buy out RUBINO out of his contract with North and jkaem out of his contract with FaZe Clan. Replacing RUBINO on North is Philip “aizy” Aistrup, while jkaem was replaced by Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. FaZe Clan had to pay a king’s ransom for their new star player, reportedly, beating CS:GO’s record for player buyouts.

Looking at the new Dignitas roster, one first has to determine what to expect. If you decide that the team should compete for the title of best in the world, the current roster is almost sure to disappoint. However, if you can be content with the new Dignitas being decent enough, hovering towards the lower half of the top 15 in the world, the new Team Dignitas roster seems quite decent.

Jkaem has a very high ceiling, however, the player is very inconsistent, able to drop 30 kills and play like a god in one map and then be absolutely abysmal in the next. Fox isn’t really that exciting, he was quite bad when he stood in on SK Gaming, however, to be fair, he was routinely playing against the strongest teams in the world, which isn’t that likely as part of Team Dignitas. While Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo dropped AWP for him while he was on SK, that shouldn’t happen on DIG. Fox should be used as the secondary AWPer, rifling usually, unless the situation actually calls for a second AWP.

Maikelele is probably the most famous player on the team, mostly well-known for his time on NiP, where he actually made the team better while a player was having health problems. He should be the team’s primary AWPer, having a higher skill ceiling on the AWP than fox, though he can rifle as well. The problem is that he seems weaker without the sniper rifle in his hands. Pita is a player turned coach turned player. That actually is quite useful for the new Team Dignitas. Any in-game leader problems should be minimal, which spells a lot of good for the new Team Dignitas. When he was acting in a playing capacity, pita always prefered a more Supportive playstyle, which is actually quite good because he should be able to facilitate plays wherever he’s needed both with calls and nades. Finally, RUBINO seems to have made a good impression on the Team Dignitas management while playing for the team before leaving to go to what became North.

Let’s get this straight, Team Dignitas isn’t likely to compete on even footing with teams of Astralis,, SK Gaming, Natus Vincere or even FaZe Clan’s caliber, however, that doesn’t mean that the team will be bad. If you control your expectations and consider the team occasionally upsetting better teams and staying around the middle of the pack as success, you’re likely to be quite happy.
