Team Dignitas Revitalize Their Overwatch Roster

January 27, 2017 - Esports

The eSports org owned by the co-owners of the NBA club Philadelphia 76ers, Team Dignitas, has officially announced their Overwatch roster going forwards into 2017.

Together with the long-time members Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin, Jose Antonio “BromaS” Ramos Gonzalez, and Joshua “ToxikeN” Campos, the team will now permanently feature Patrick “Wat7” Marwal, Marcel “Veineless” Lehmann, and Elvinas “evokje” Padegimas. It has to be noted that Veineless and evokje have been playing for Team Dignitas since October 10, 2016, however, they were only confirmed as official members in the announcement on the 26th of January, 2017. Wat7 seems to have joined the team on Jan. 24.

LiNkzr, BromaS and ToxikeN have been playing for Team Dignitas since August 18th, the day when the organization acquired an Overwatch roster by signing Creation eSports. The two DPS players and Flex pick did not achieve much since joining the team, mostly placing in the lower half of the top 10 in various tournaments in which the team participated since coming into being.

On October 10th, Team Dignitas cut their Tank Seb “numlocked” Barton, who went on to join NRG Esports and Arthur “art1er” Bischof, a DPS player, to sign Supports Veineeless and evokje. Two months later, the team’s Tank, Rasmus “Draceus” Waern left, and a replacement has only been found now, with the joining of Austrian Tank player Wat7.

While some teams like Rogue and Misfits are starting to gravitate towards rosters based on nationalities, with Rogue having an entirely French roster while Misfits got six Swedish players including the arguably best player in the world, Kevyn “TviQ” Lindström, Team Dignitas looks to be entirely unimpressed by this roster building strategy. Their lineup features a the Finnish LiNkzr, Spanish BromaS and ToxikeN, Austrian Wat7, German Veineless, and Lithuanian evokje.

"With the new Team Dignitas Overwatch roster I am confident that we will be a top contender in upcoming competitions and I will do everything I can to make sure we are. With the addition of Evokje, Wat7 and Veineless we now have three extremely committed players with fresh ideas to bring new life to the team. I'm excited to show everyone the new Team Dignitas," said the team’s captain, LiNkzr.

Hopefully, with the touch ups made to their Overwatch roster, Team Dignitas can rise up from their place as the 17th best Overwatch team in the world and at least storm the Top 10. It will not be easy, however. Teams like Luminosity, Rogue, Afreeca Freecs Blue and KongDoo Panthera stand in their way.
