The ELEAGUE Major Boston is going to be the first tournament to feature a new structure where the Offline Qualifier is played under the umbrella of the Major instead of it being a separate event. We’re looking at all teams set to take part in the event. The Minors’ Champions have been discussed already, it’s time to talk about the Krakow’s Fallen.

By all rights and if the world made sense, FaZe Clan would not be playing in the qualifier for the ELEAGUE Major Boston Group Stage. Alas, the world doesn’t make sense sometimes, proven by FaZe Clan’s epic failure at the PGL Major Kraków where they were knocked out of the tournament after three rounds of Swiss, having lost to BIG, mousesports and FlipSid3 Tactics.

After that tournament, disappointed and determined to not get embarrassed again, the management of FaZe grabbed the bull by the horns and swapped out two players, signing Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács and Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer, two players who were considered for the title of “The Best in the World” during the prime of their careers on Natus Vincere and Fnatic respectively.

With that change, a superteam with some impressive results right out the gates was born.

The Roster

Little by little, starting towards the end of 2016, FaZe management started to build an impressive lineup with the signing of Finn “karrigan” Andersen of Astralis fame. Later, in February of 2017, they also bought out Nikola “NiKo” Kovač from mousesports in a record-breaking deal and looked to be headed to greener pastures.

It didn’t go as expected, however. They still failed come the next Major, inspiring even more drastic action and the acquisition of GuardiaN and olofmeister.

After these roster changes, Håvard “rain” Nygaard was the only old school FaZe player left and it seems like he’s going to stay there. In terms of star power, rain plays fifth or fourth fiddle to his teammates, but his performance on the server can be truly impressive when the team requires it to be.

So, the current FaZe Clan roster is rain, karrigan, olofmeister, NiKo and GuardiaN.

Team Stats

The current FaZe roster has played 121 maps together in 2017, achieving a 83-37 map record with 11,306 kills to 9,788 deaths, for a ratio of 1.16, which is impressive.

Mirage is their most played map with 23 wins and 7 losses. The next most popular map, at a 19-5 record, is Overpass, followed by 18-0-5 Inferno, 9-1-7 Train, 9-0-5 Cache and the two losing maps, Nuke and Cobblestone at 3-4 and 2-4 respectively.

Recent Results

The roster debuted at DreamHack Masters Malmö and fell on its face, taking 9-12th place after losing to Gambit in the Group Stage, 0-2. After that, however, the Real Madrid of CS:GO got back on its feet and won ESL One New York 2017, defeating Team Liquid 3-0 in the Finals.

While there were some initial struggles, they soon started picking up wins, lifting the trophy at ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2017, placing second behind Ninjas in Pyjamas at IEM Oakland, losing to SK in the Finals at ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals and finishing the year with a victory over mousesports at the ECS Season 4 Finals match for the title.
