ECS Finals Groups and Schedule Announced

June 13, 2016 - Esports

FACEIT has announced the groups and schedule for its Esports Championship Series (ECS) Finals, which will start on the 24th of June, at 12:15 BST. The top 8 teams will start the competition in two groups, with the Grand Final taking place on Sunday, 26 June at SSE Arena, Wembley.

The event should provide viewers with some amazing games, as there are no weak teams in this event. In fact, many of them could easily vie for a spot in the top 8 of the upcoming ESL One Cologne 2016. Going back to the ECS, however, Group A will see matches between Luminosity Gaming, G2 Esports, NiP, and Team Liquid, while Group B will feature astralis, Cloud9, TSM, and Fnatic.

A detailed schedule was also released, with the whole tournament planned out. Day 1 on Friday, 24th of June will have these matches:

12:15 – 13:30: Luminosity Gaming vs. NiP (Group A.1 – Upper Bracket Semi #1)

13:30 – 14:45: Team Liquid vs. G2 Esports (Group A.2 – UB Semi #2)

14:45 – 16:00: Winner A.1 vs. Winner A.2 (Group A.3 – UB Final)

16:00 – 17:16: Astralis vs. TSM (Group B.1 – UB Semi #1)

17:15 – 18:30: Fnatic vs. Cloud9 (Group B.2 – UB Semi #2)

18:30 – 19:45: Winner B.1 vs. Winner B.2 (Group B.3 – UB Final)

The tournament will continue on Day 2, with these matches;

11:15 – 14:15: Loser A.1 vs. Loser A.2 (Group A4 – Lower Bracket #1)

14:15 – 17:15: Loser B.1 vs. Loser B.2 (Group B.4 – LB#1)

17:15 – 20:15: Winner A.4 vs. Loser A.3 (Group A.5 – LB Final)

20:15 – 23:15: Winner B.4 vs. Loser B.3 (Group B.5 – LB Final)

The final day of the tournament will have three matches, starting at 12:00:

12:00 – 15:00: #1 Group B vs. #2 Group A (Semifinal#1)

15:30 – 18:30: #1 Group A vs. #2 Group B (Semifinal #2)

20:00 – 23:00: Winner of Semifinal #1 vs. Winner of Semifinal #2 (Grand Final)

Trying to predict anything in a tournament of this size is very difficult. Despite that, I would like to see Luminosity face off against Fnatic in the Grand Final, provided olofmeister is in good form. If not, the Grand Finals might be kind of boring, unless G2 or NiP somehow manages to get there.
