Slowly but surely, the new Immortals LCS roster is taking shape. Eugene “Pobelter” Park has been signed for two years. Now, the organization announced that they’ve signed Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett for a mind-staggering three year period. If that wasn’t enough, ESPN’s Jacob Wolf published a report, alleging that one of the most famous LCK Top Laners, Lee “Flame” Ho-Jong and Chinese AD Carry Li “Massacre” Yu Sun are to sign with Immortals as well.
First, let’s talk about Dardoch. We’ve said before that the player might join Immortals. The official statement, however, reveals the amazingly long contract he agreed to sign with the org. In the official announcement over at immortals.gg, the team stated that they are “fully committed to Dardoch, having signed him for a three-year contract.” With such job security, the player might be able to play to improve at his own pace, without worrying about getting fired.
Of course, provided that the atmosphere on Immortals isn’t as confrontational as it was on Team Liquid, Dardoch isn’t likely to ever be replaced, because young North American Junglers with the in-game skill approaching Koreans is extremely rare and valuable. With Dardoch on the team, a spot for an import in another position opens up, which is, frankly, extremely useful.
Speaking of the rumors about Flame and Massacre, getting the two players would be a good way to fill out the roster for Immortals. Yes, Flame is probably not a beast like he used to be several years ago, however, his experience should be advantageous in molding players like Dardoch. Also, he still is one of the top Korean Top Laners, meaning that he shouldn’t fall behind players like Ssumday and Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong too much, which might be a problem for TSM’s Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell, for example.
Where Flame is famous, Massacre is an unknown, unless you just happen to follow the Challenger scene. According to what people say on the Internet (and we all know how trustworthy that kind of information is), Massacre is a very good AD Carry, who can end up with some of the best stats in the league while also playing on weak teams. Hopefully, he can translate this mystifying skill into his LCS play as well. With veterans like Pobelter and Flame and fresh blood like Dardoch, he should have some great people supporting him. Of course, everything will depend on who is going to be Immortals’ new Support. There are rumours about Lee “Piccaboo” Jong-Beom, the former SK Telecom T1 and KT Rolster Support, possibly joining Immortals. If that was to happen… IMT CEO Noah Winston will probably say something like, “Adrian what? I don’t know that dude.”
