2017 NA LCS Spring Split Finals To Be Held In Vancouver

January 18, 2017 - Esports

The 2017 NA LCS Spring Split promises to be the most exciting yet, with several well-known Koreans coming to play in North America in order to try and qualify for the 2017 League of Legends World Championship more easily and several non-endemic companies and even co-owners of sports teams buying the controlling interest in the teams. Even though the Spring Split doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, the location for its Finals should be at least semi-exciting. Whether it is or not, we will let you to decide. The 2017 NA LCS Spring Split Finals will take place in… Vancouver. Are you not entertained?!

The event will take place on April 22-23, at the Pacific Coliseum. This will not be the first time that the NA LCS visits Canada, as the Finals of the 2016 Summer Split, won by Team SoloMid in a dominating fashion, took place in Toronto, the hometown of the current starting AD Carry for TSM, Jason “Wildturtle” Tran. Back to Canada once again, the Spring Split Finals will take the players not to Ontario, but to British Columbia instead.

The top four teams from the NA LCS Spring Playoffs will be invited to come to Vancouver in order to find out which team is going to receive the invite to the 2017 Mid-Season Invitational, as well as deciding the Championship Points distribution from the Spring Split, which could be the be all and end all of receiving an invite to Worlds or having to go through the Regionals. On April 22nd, the matches for 3rd vs. 4th place will be played, while the Grand Final of the NA LCS Spring Split 2017 will take place on April 23. The matches will be played in the Best of 5 format, and the tickets will go up on sale in the middle of February. More information about that will be revealed on Lolesports.com and, of course, drakemoon.com/blog.

As for the stakes… The first place team will receive 90 points and the invite to the Mid-Season Invitational 2017, the 2nd place team will get 70 points, 3rd will have to be satisfied with 50, while the 4th place team will only receive 30. Unless you can win 2017 NA LCS Summer Split and get an invite that way, the points are one of the other two ways to qualify for the LoL World Championships 2017. Qualification for the biggest League of Legends event of the year works by awarding an invite to the Champion of the Summer Split, the point leader and the winner of the gauntlet. If the point leader won the Summer Split as well, it goes down to the next best team.
